Description

For some children, illness or trauma during early childhood means they have an increased likelihood of developing behavioural difficulties - resulting in CAN’T type behaviour because of possible Acquired Brain Injury (ABI). Alternatively, there are children who, it is believed, just WON’T behave. There is no medical reason for their behaviour and they become labelled defiant, stubborn and wilful. This booklet provides advice and practical explanations for the many reasons why children CAN’T or WON’T behave and includes guidance on appropriate responses by staff. Co-written with an Occupational Therapist who specialises in the assessment, rehabilitation and support of children with ABI.
